Grief Share

Tuesdays from October 8-December 10 from 7:00pm-9:00pm at The Workshop (219 2nd Avenue South)

GriefShare is a 10-week, Christ-centered support group for people who have lost a spouse, family member, or friend through death.  Each session features a video with experts (pastors and Christian counsellors) who discuss grief and recovery topics helpful to people experiencing grief.  Everyday people who have gone through the grieving process also share their stories, and offer what has helped them deal with the pain of losing a loved one through death.  Participants have the opportunity to discuss their own grief with each other and in addition, may study a daily Bible devotional with practical exercises from their workbook, to help them move through the grieving process.

Topics include:

  • dealing with emotions of sadness, fear, anger, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, etc.
  • the loneliness of grief and avoiding isolation
  • managing changes in relationships and insensitive remarks
  • moving beyond the “if only” and debilitating doubt
  • navigating the “why?” questions and trusting God
  • moving forward while remembering loved ones
  • regaining hope and resiliency!

GriefShare is not a cure or a prescription for a cure.  The program is designed to provide people who each grieve differently with helpful tools that will strengthen them in their own grief journey, and to foster healthy relationships among those who are grieving together, in an effort to create a Christian support system built on individuals who understand the pain.
