Purpose & Values

Our Purpose:

To love God and to express that love towards all people.

Jesus was once asked, “What’s the single most important instruction in God’s way of living?” Jesus’ answer: “Love God with everything in you; and love your fellow human as yourself.” We’re convinced Jesus was right about this. So we commit ourselves, by his strength, to live this way. Everywhere. Everyday.

Our Values:

Hepburn MB, like every local church, has its own unique identity. We have a story. We have passions. Our values try to capture what makes us who we are.

Developing People

“… so that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28)

Our church really ought to have a “work in progress” sign on the front. Jesus has grabbed a hold of our lives and he’s changing each one of us to be more like him. From children to elders, we’re all in development. And the fact is, we’re excited about the whole long and messy process of becoming like Jesus. So we invest in our children, in our youth, and in everyone who wants to join us along the way.

Living Community

“… like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood.” (1 Peter 2:5)

Being a Christian isn’t a hobby you do in your basement. Following Jesus happens in community. It’s together that we learn and experience the new life of love that Jesus came to offer us. And it’s as we become a “living community” in Jesus that we’re able to be life-bringers to the community around us. We love our community of Hepburn and we love to do what we can to bring life wherever we go.

Celebrating Transformation

“By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope …” (1 Peter 1:3)

Who doesn’t love gifts? We’re convinced that a life changed by Jesus comes as a gift from him. It’s not an achievement on a “how to make a better me” checklist. We don’t change ourselves. And if transformation is a gift, what’s better than celebrating? So that’s what we do. We’re a church that gets excited when we see God at work in the lives of people.
